Next is the \"water\". I used Liqitex Gloss Medium & Varnish. It\'s easy to use. No complicated mixing and toxic fumes, so I could do it in my office without killing off the neighboring office workers. The first layer I poured, I tinted with a little \"Olive\" acrylic. When this layer was poured over the streambed, it acted like that green moss that covers the river rocks. Then it\'s just a matter of pouring additional layers of Gloss Medium to raise the water level. This Gloss Medium shrinks as it dries, so it hugs the shape of the rocks and sand. Which is great because with multiple layers, the surface gets a nice undulation from rolling over the rocks below. It\'s very natural looking. You can pour small amounts in deep fissures to even out the final surface. It\'s self-leveling, so you\'ll never get any weird \"bumps\" partially cured surface \"skinning\". So that\'s about it. This works great for crystal clear streams in the Sierra Nevadas and Rockies where you can clearly see the river bottom. For a more opaque river that carries a larger silt load, just add a little white acrylic into the Gloss Medium. Good luck and have fun!
